Finger painting can develop emotional as well as physical areas. The feeling of the paint in the fingers all squidgy and wet, the feeling of achievement in creating a 'masterpiece' and the physical elements of drawing with your fingers.

Ensure that the children have no allergies before using.

You will need:

Large pieces of paper

Large tray - cheap cat litter trays are ideal (unused of course!!!)

coveralls - old shirts worn back to front are ideal!

Poster paint in colours of your choice

A little washing up liquid or handwash

Place some paint into the tray to a thickness of around 1 cm - add a good squirt of washing up liquid or hand wash and mix gently - this makes washing the paint from the hands easier.

Allow the children to rub their hands or fingers in the paint and then draw onto the paper.
