    just had my certificate back on fri 3/10/08 to have dh on as assistant and it say's ' may at times agreed and confirmed in writting by parent's, leave an assistant in sole charge of the children (only on the Early Years Register)'

    The above somes it up, an assistant can only be left in sole care if it is stated on the certificate and you have written permission from the parents, and that clause only applys to the early years register (0-5s). for 5-8's you may never leave an assistant in sole care of a child.

    yes thats right- i was told this today on my inspection! at first she said it was the older ones the assistant could be left with but then a more senior inspector who was also here said it was the younger ones they could be left with-dont understand the reasoning behind that at all
