    Default Characteristics of Effective Learning

OK, I'm really struggling on this.

I am looking at the Summative Assessment forms sent out by Cambs Local Authority. I've started filling one out for an 18 month old little boy I look after. I've filled in 7 learning and development areas and put down what age bracket I think he is in at the moment which all looks fine.

There is half a page with Characteristics of Effective Learning and 3 boxes with the different areas to complete.

I didn't realise I would have to write about how the child learns, I just thought I would observe how they learn and then use that in my planning. I have no idea what to write. Is there any help available?

    Thanks,
    Linda.

Children learn in different ways - some are creative, some are sensory, some have schemas, some try things out a few times, some hang back until they are sure...

What kind of learner is the child? He won't be every type of learner - he will have his own little learning personality for you to discuss.

He's only with me 2 mornings a week and 1 morning we spend at the children's centre so I don't really feel that I know him very well yet.

He likes to explore using both hands and mouth. He empties out boxes and the bookshelves and then moves onto something else. He watches other children and will play with the cars and garage and loves the sand pit.

I know you have an ebook Sarah, but I don't know if I can face reading 60 pages at the moment - have you got a mini one that would help?

    Linda.

Are you saying I write too much?

    I'll send you a pm
