Activities for EYFS Areas of Learning

The daffodil is a traditional emblem of Wales and St. David. St. David is the Patron Saint of Wales and on March 1st each year the Welsh celebrate their culture and history.

You will need

  • 1 egg box
  • coloured card - or crayons and paint
  • garden stick or strip of thick card

Cut the egg holder part from the egg box, this will form the 'trumpet' of the daffodil, small children will need help.

Draw a circle on card and trim to make the back petals of the daffodil, similar to the pic below, it need not be exact, the children can enjoy cutting to their own design. Then fasten this to the back of the 'trumpet' with either glue or a split pin holder.

Add a garden stick or strip of green card to make the stem.

Either use coloured card, or colour each pieces as you go along or paint when finished.
